Yaw Ampofo Ankrah Is Students Education Ambassador

Ghanaian broadcast Journalist and President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been named Education Ambassador by the National Students Awards (NSA) at the University of Ghana, Legon (UGL).

Vice Chancellor of University of Ghana Professor Ebenezer Owusu Oduro presented the versatile sports journalist with a citation that reads; "For distinguishing yourself in service to Ghana, your dedication to helping the development of education and the exemplary leadership you have provided to the students and youth of Ghana".

The colourful awards ceremony which took place at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana was attended by an array of distinguished personalities including Prof. Mike Oquaye who served as the second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana between 2009 and 2013.

In other awards, Most Innovative Student in IT went to Prince Osafo Asamoah (UPSA), Most Outstanding Student in Agriculture - Solomon Zinekena T.T.B,  Student Actor of the Year - Anthony Woode (UPSA), 

Student Sports Personality of the - Albert Quarmine (MUCG), NSA/IMANI Student Research Fellow of the Year - Gabriel Nomotsu Teye - Ali, Student President of the year - Dennis Appiah Larbi-Ampofo (UCC),  Prefect of the Year - Mercy Yaa Boatemaa Appiah (Sunyani Nursing & Midwifery),
Student Secretary of the Year - Sam Kwesi Acquah (UCC), Student Women Commissioner of the year - Belinda Akpene Dede (GIJ), Student Entrepreneur of the year - Mohammed Abdul Bashiru (KNUST),

Student Journalist of the year - Astrim Sitsofe Philip (KNUST), Student Author of the year - Patrick Fynn (Kintampo Nursing and Midwifery Training College), Campus Group of the year - We Rise Foundation, Student Blogger of the Year - Samuel Gyekye Mensah (KNUST),

Student Activist of the Year - Richmond Kodua (KNUST), National Students Association of the Year - Foreign Students Association of Ghana, Student Personality of the Year - Mercy Yaa Boatemaa Appiah (Sunyani Nursing & Midwifery),

School of Fame 2016 - Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology,  Student Hall of the Year - University Hall Katanga (KNUST), Student Financial Controller of the Year - Arthur Tony Henry (UCC) and finally Most Promising Student Leader of the Year - Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh (UG).

Ampofo Ankrah, who is founder and navigator of Books and Boots, also works with a number of youth groups and organisations through Beach Soccer, One Ghana and the Ghana Volunteers Brigade.

No 'Shower Hour' On Big Brother Naija - Says MultiChoice

As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017. This comes to some fans as ‘decent’, following the controversies generated by that segment of the show, during the now rested continental edition, Big Brother Africa (BBA). MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth. Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25 million and a brand new KIA Sorento car. Sponsored by PayPorte, the program will run for 78 days, starting 22 January 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised launch and end on 9 April 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised finale.
