Ghanaian Afrobeats group, Ruff n Smooth, has been billed to headline the 2016 edition of AFROFEST music festival in Toronto, Canada.  The multiple hit making group which is made up of Ricky Nana Agyemang (Ruff/Bullet) and Clement Baah Foh (Smooth/Akhan) will perform for over 70,000 crowd at this year’s concert slated for July 9 and 10 at Woodbine Park, Toronto. According to group member, Akhan, they will perform with a live band on stage for more than an hour. “We are performing live with a band,” Akhan told Pulse.com.gh “We have performed live at some concerts in Ghana but this is going to be our major live performance,” he added. If you ever doubted Anita Erskine's prowess as a Mistress of Ceremonies, Saturday night's star studded Golden Movie Awards awards would have been the moment when you gave her your seal of approval.  Anita Erskine loved the stage and it's was obvious. She dribbled the French and English in her master 'show off' style! It was an apt approach as the organizers of the Golden Movie Awards had clearly described how they want the Golden Movie Awards as an African event.  One thing that I guess truly awed the audience is that unlike most awards where it's obvious that the MC's are not scripted and fumble or ARE indeed scripted and simply read without expression. Ghanaian Dancehall act Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr has picked yet another award; the Golden Discovery of the year. Shatta Wale beat competition from Afia Odo (Beautiful Ruins), Ophelia Dzidzornu (The Cursed Ones), Queenstar Anaafi (YOLO), Wiyala (No Man’s Land) and Lynn Bentil (Shampaign) to pick the award at the second edition of the annual Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA). The Golden Movie Awards took place last night at the Kempinski Hotel Ghana. With a bouquet of stars and sleek organization, the events red carpet proved to set the pace for award shows in Ghana.  There was no shortage in glamour, as the Titans of the African movie scene, seemed to wrestle with their fashion statements. Last night, Africa celebrated one of it’s biggest night in the movie industry when the 2016 Golden Movie Awards Africa came off at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.  The Golden Movie Awards is an annual award that seeks to honor outstanding achievement in the African television, digital media and film industries and is administered by the expert in the Cinema & Television, the Awards recognizes film Excellence in a variety of categories for an international appeal. The night was filled with glitz  and glamour as celebrities and movie lovers thronged the Kempinski Hotel for the 2nd edition of the award show. The red carpet session which was hosted by Selly Galley and Uti from Nigiria saw various celebrities from the likes of Joycelyn Dumas, Martha Ankoma, Shirley Frimpong, Bibi Bright, Elikem, Harold, Eddie Nartey, Too Sweet Annan, Kofi Adjorlolo, Jasmine Baroudi, Van Vicker, Nadia Buari, Shatta Wale, and several others make huge fashion statements on the night.

South African DJ Black Coffee has been crowned the ‘Best International Act: Africa’ at the 2016 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards. He beat South Africans AKA and Cassper Nyovest, Nigerians Wizkid and Yemi Alade, Tanzanian Diamond Platinumz, Ghanaian MzVee and Ivorian Serge Beynaud. The presentation was a prelude to the main awards night which will take place at the Microsoft Theater In Los Angeles, United States of America on Sunday, June 26. The show kicks off at 8 p.m. EDT and will air around the world on BET’s international network. It will air in Africa on Tuesday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m.

The just ended Exclusive Man of the Year awards seemed to have brought  together our favorite celebrities and corporate figures.  With the likes of Bola Ray, KKD the finest, Lexis Bills,  Claudia Lumor, Irene Logan, Nadia Buari and many more, lighting a spark of flair.  Without a ticket or any form of access to the venue, I observed closely on all forms of media that dispensed information from the Banquet Hall, where the event took place. From my observation, the tailor cut suits, designer gowns, shoes and accessories, seemed to blend peferctly with the red carpet, which carried an aura of class. My attention was constantly drifting to individuals who rocked with style. It was indeed a kaleidoscopic view, as the dappled patterns created music to the eyes.
