Accra Academy Wins Big At Vodafone Freezone Musical Contest

Accra Academy, winners of 2015 Vodafone Icons High School Edition, have bagged a prestigious prize at the Vodafone Freezone International Musical Contest held in Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul, Turkey.  The competition, which brought together a collection of young musical talent, hosted 30 bands from countries including Ghana, Malta, Iceland, India and Macedonia. The band from Ghana’s Accra Academy High School won the prestigious ‘Best International Performance & Colourful band’ out of the three awards in the international category. Their ‘Pata Pata’ cover song received overwhelming cheers as the audience perceived the genre to be unique and their performance energetic. Big Events Ghana, organizers of the prestigious Radio & Television Personality (RTP) Awards, in conjunction with Flight Center International, a Travel & Tour Agency – promised the top three winners of the 2015 edition of the scheme, a trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The African Union has unveiled the calendar of events of the 2016 All Africa Music Awards tagged AFRIMA 3.0 at the AUC-AFRIMA Joint Conference in Banjul, Gambia. Ghana’s Afua Ansah Makes Top 45 Finals Of The 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee In The USA

Nadia Buari Unveiled As Brand Ambassador For Golden Movie Awards

Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for the 2016 edition of Golden Movie Awards. The announcement was made on Tuesday evening at the launching ceremony for the award at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra where nominations were also released. According to NMJ Ghana, organisers of the award, it believed in brand association, which is one of the fundamental drivers of Golden Movie Awards thematic values including resilience, transparency and service, embedded in the awards organization. It was therefore convinced that Nadia Buari is a strong and shining brand to associate with. Hence the decision to add her to the list of its ambassadors. However, the rest of the ambassadors were not mentioned at the ceremony. In her acceptance speech, Nadia indicated her readiness to work. However she said she was surprised to have made the list.

New Ghanaian movie, Housekeepers successfully premiered at the Silverbird Cinemas at the Accra and West Hill Malls on Saturday evening. The premiere’s red carpet ceremony at the Accra Mall was not only patronized by encouraging numbers of movie goes but also attracted a number of respectable  movie stakeholders and  corporate Ghana, who came to see the movie. Seychelles And South African Tourism Boards Sign MoU For Better Cooperation

Better cooperation and exchanges are expected in the field of tourism between Seychelles and South Africa after the two countries’ respective tourism boards signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the INDABA trade fair earlier this month in Durban. The MOU was signed on behalf of Seychelles by the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St Ange and Sthembiso Dlamini, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the South African Tourism Board. Several talks and discussions were held between the two bodies in the past year, leading up to the realisation of this agreement which now covers numerous areas of prolific cooperation between them. In the presence of several representatives of both tourism boards, the agreement was signed and toasted to as both Minister St Ange and Ms Dlamini said they look forward to further strengthen ties and enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Vienna City To Re-launch After March Fire

 Vienna City Accra will resume operations barely two months after fire gutted the entertainment hot spot. On Friday May 20, the center will re-launch with a number of activities including music performances from some of Ghana’s celebrated musicians like VVIP and Jupiter among others. A number of other A-list stars are also expected to pass through. Vienna-CityVienna City has been out of operation since Thursday March 31 after the inferno raised down part of the facility at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. Reports at the time claimed the fire started from a faulty air condition which exploded.

Guru And Manager In London For A Deal

Currently the award winning hit maker, Guru and his manager Ray Moni are in London to celebrate the birthday of Guru and relax for a couple of days before returning home to their busy schedule. This report was disclosed during a conversation with the award winning rappers manager, Ray Moni. But a close source with Guru's management revealed they are also in London for a couple of deals, which may possibly include an event and that of a collaboration. The management will be teaming up with a major event house based in the London for major event or a tour in Europe.
