South Africa Tourism Partners EIB Network For Content Production

SOUTH Africa’s tourism marketing organization, South African Tourism (SA Tourism) and leading Ghanaian media organization Excellence In Broadcasting (EIB) Network have partnered to produce content about South Africa for Ghanaian audience. The West Africa office of SA Tourism agreed to partner with EIB to create television content for Empire Protocol prdoduction, Revealed with Bola Ray. The focus for the content which will feature in Season 4 of the show, is currently being filmed in South Africa and will showcase various experiences that Ghanaians can have in South Africa. The content will be aired on Ghana One TV (GHOne TV) and showed across EIB’s Social Media platforms. The West Africa Regional Manager of SAT, Thekiso Rakolojane said they are very excited about this partnership. “We believe that it will inspire West Africans to visit South Africa in numbers and increase our brand’s awareness in the region,” he noted.

Vodafone Ghana has appointed Mrs. Patricia Obo-Nai as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 1st April 2019. Vodafone 4G – How The Journey Unravelled

The story of Vodafone Ghana’s acquisition of the 4G licence is an odyssey of persistence and belief. The story starts in 2015 when Vodafone pulled out of the National Communications Authority’s (NCA) 4G spectrum bidding process. The NCA pegged the price at US$67.5m for any mobile operator - Vodafone balked at the price, finding it exorbitant given market conditions. Supporting their claim, were examples across Africa where similar spectrum bids for the same band had an average price of around US$25m. Chief Executive, Yolanda Cuba was adamant, “There is no doubt that 4G is an efficient technology and from a customer perspective, it can give increased speed. However, from our standpoint, it’s just not cost efficient for us to deploy the technology.” The bidding process went ahead nonetheless and a block of the two available slots was eventually prized away by another operator. PR and advertising company Ogilvy Ghana, has won three awards at the 2017 Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards held at the La-Palm Beach Hotel in Accra. The company, one of the largest marketing communications networks in the country helping transform brands, accomplished a feat at this year’s awards as the most awarded consultancy considering it was the first time it had submitted entries to the awards. The company shrugged off competition from 13 others to walk away with three awards out of four nominations. The awards included: PR Campaign of the Year, and Best Community Relations Programme of the Year for the Ghanaians Against Child Abuse (GACA) campaign, and subsequent Nationwide Community Mobile Theatre Roadshow executed for UNICEF and Government of Ghana. The award for Best in Social Media Communications was for work performed for Coca-Cola’s Coke Studio Africa.

GTDC ADDS NEW FLEET TO CAR RENTAL SERVICE

The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has expanded its car rental services by adding three brand new four-wheel to its fleet of cars as part of process to revamp its travel and tour operations. The Company which is the investment wing of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has been in the car rental business for almost a decade providing car rental services to individuals and organizations. The Business Development Manager, Mr. Asiedu Abankwa gave reasons for the new additions; “these cars will go a long way to serve the needs of the numerous patrons who seek pride in luxury and comfort while attending to their routine schedules.” He stated. The company already has two Yutong busses and five four-wheel Nissan patrols in business. The new additions bring to total 10 running long term rentals available from 1 to 12 months and daily rentals in and outside Accra.

Dutch Vice Prime Minister And Minister Of Agriculture, Nature And Food Quality Visits Ghana As Part Of A 3-day Working Trip

Ms Carola Schouten, Dutch Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality is visiting Ghana between 3-6 February as part of a working trip aimed at tightening partnerships between the countries and developing new cooperation. The 3-day visit will highlight the role of climate-smart agriculture as a solution for local challenges related to climate change, food security and a growing population in Ghana. This will be her first visit to an African country in her current capacity. The Netherlands is the world’s second biggest exporter of agricultural produce and has a highly innovative agricultural sector. As a result there is a strong Dutch private sector presence in Ghana, contributing to food security through knowledge and expertise. Through her visit Minister Schouten wishes to strengthen this relationship.The Minister also wants to see how the issue of climate change and food security can be tackledfor the world’s growing population.
