Actor Kalu Ikeagwu Releases Statement On His Arrest By The Nigerian Police

Y esterday, news broke out in Nigeria that British-Nigerian actor and writer, Kalu Egbui Ikeagwu was arrested by the police following a robbery and homicide case. He has released a statement stating what exactly happened. Read that below Just to clear the air, I have this to say. I was literally abducted at gunpoint by earring wearing men purported to be policemen (they were five) in an unmarked Hiace bus with civilian number plates and fake identity cards.  They first claimed to be working on an abduction Abuja case which changed to a robbery case, all while in transit. Even on getting to the police station I was not allowed to go in to the premises but was held outside .  I repeatedly asked to go into the station where I'd feel safer to ask whatever questions that were burning in my mind regarding my traumatic experience. It did not happen. Instead they told me a phone used for a kidnap was being sought for, later the story changed to robbery then back to kidnap. As I w

It’s A Caribbean, African, American Ting! – Houston Afro Creole Music Festival

Come October 1 and 2, the city of Houston, Texas will host the inaugural Houston Afro-Creole Music Festival, which promises to appeal to the city’s diverse population. According to event organizer Jon Glen Bannis, the idea for the festival came about due to a lack of representation of Creole culture in Houston events. “We come from an Afro-Caribbean and Francophone background, so our music has influences of French and African culture. Apart from our Independence activities which caters to Dominicans and our invited guests, we do not see much creole music on large events here in Houston. Though this is the first year we hope that over time we can bring together a great mix of African, Caribbean an

Sandra Ankobiah To Moderate ‘Ask The EC’ On GTV #GhanaDecides

From registering to casting the first ballot, becoming a first-time voter is a process. But often times, young voters are clueless about the voting procedure, and their electoral rights. Which is why the Electoral Commission of Ghana’s decision to begin an educational series on GTV dubbed, “Ask the EC” has been lauded. The programme, created to serve as a platform for the public to seek answers to issues bothering their minds on this year’s general election, represents a good opportunity for first time voters to understand how voting works and the steps it takes to become an informed voter. Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei, who announced this ingenuity earlier this year, expressed hope that the programme would help first time voters know more about the Electoral Commission and how it operates, as well as sensitize them to their civic rights and responsibilities. EX MANAGER SPEAKS ON SAMINI'S UNFULFILLED PLEDGE AT EPIXODS ALBUM LAUNCH

As a former manager of Epixode, listening to the play back of his interview on Happy FM last Saturday leaves me with so much sadness, fear and disappointments . The denials are expected but hey it was so clear that whatever happened on the show pertaining to the Samini's pledge was premeditated and executed in bad faith..It's sometimes permitted in showbiz circles to engage in stunts and stuff for hype and it's not out of place to ask or inquire about the pledge but the mode adopted was highly unnecessary to say the least especially to go down and mention Samini's name on radio and make it look as if he's the only one yet to fulfill whatever pledge he made that day. You could be right, but the picture that'll be painted would always be the one that seeks to only embarrass Samini and subject him to ridicule coz of how you chose to go about it. For crying out loud which serious record label would hide behind an artiste and push this kind of agenda instead o
