AUTHENTIC SOUTH AFRICAN COMEDY KICK STARTS HERITAGE WEEKEND AT CARNIVAL CITY

Carnival City has rounded up a diverse mix of proudly South African comedians to kick off the Heritage weekend at its Bru’s venue tomorrow night (Friday).

On the bill for the comedy night are Deep Fried Man, Vittoria Leonardi, Trevor Gumbi and Alfred Adriaan.

Comedy fans can look forward to loads of laughter as each comedian brings their own unique blend of humour to the evening.

Award winning comedian Deep Fried Man’s quirky, clever and original style of comedy has seen him establish himself as a top South African comic very quickly.

His material is witty, relevant and combined with hilarious songs which he tailor makes to suit the audience.

Deep fried man’s songs are outrageous, uniquely South African, sometimes satirical and controversial but always entertaining.
Armed with his guitar and special brand of humour, Deep Fried Man, is a surefire hit with audiences across the country.

In his 15 years on stage, Leonardi has tried to show audiences a new way to see the world – slightly skewed, a bit quirky and governed by cartoon law.

From shoe sizes to the inner workings of the Roman Army; from heavy metal to relationship jargon, this comic takes the world, turns it sideways and gets us to see it as it could be if we’d all just reach behind our backs, pull out a cream pie, throw it and learn to laugh.

While outspoken and sometimes controversial, Gumbi is a firm favourite on the local comedy circuit.

Gumbi has performed at all the major comedy events all over the country, including Kings & Queens, Rocking The Daisies, Kingsize, Blacks Only, Laugh Out Loud, Arts Alive and Oppikoppi.

With his expressive eyes, facial expressions and energy he always has his audiences in stitches.

Adriaan is a young comedian flying up the ranks in the SA comedy scene with two consecutive South African comics’ choice nominations under his belt in the best New Comedian and Best Intermediate Comedian categories.

His comedy is based on his life growing up in the rural Eastern Cape with hilarious stories that range from Public School education to his complicated relationships with the fairer sex.

The fun and games will start at 8pm.

Bru’s is open from noon to 11pm on Mondays through to Thursdays, from noon to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, and from noon to 10.30pm on Sunday.

Quiz Nights take place every Wednesday night and in addition to comedy nights on Fridays, there is live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

No 'Shower Hour' On Big Brother Naija - Says MultiChoice

As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017. MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth. Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25 million and a brand new KIA Sorento car. Sponsored by PayPorte, the program will run for 78 days, starting 22 January 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised launch and end on 9 April 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised finale.
