Økuntakinte Launches His Melanin Girls Campaign In SA

20 year old UK born, Ghanaian EDM musician, Økuntakinte, launches his Melanin Girls Campaign in South Africa today following the highly successful debut campaign in Ghana earlier this year which caught the attention of the likes of BBC and is believed to be Ghana’s most engaging social media campaign to date having trended on social media for four consecutive days.

To join the Melanin Girls Campaign, post a selfie of yourself with the hashtag #MelaninGirlSA and tag @Okuntakinte and stand a chance to win a cash prize of R7000.

The Melanin Girls Campaign will run for the next 7 days thereafter Økuntakinte will select the winning selfie at random and announcement the winner on 14 October 2016 on his social media pages.

With the recent race challenges facing South Africa, Økuntakinte’s Melanin Girls Campaign aims to celebrate girls and women of all skin types, with the underlying message that regardless of how light or dark your skin colour is (melanin) you need to be comfortable in the skin you were born with and we need to celebrate all our “melanin” girls.

Økuntakinte’s Melanin Girls Campaign in Ghana was launched with a single of the same title. Following suit, Økuntakinte has done a remix to this single featuring South Africa’s Moonchild Sanelly.

The #MelaninGirlsRemix single is available on all major digital platforms globally and has started enjoying rotation on South African radio with a music video to follow suit.

“The song Melanin Girls celebrates dark-skinned girls and is a call-to-action to embrace their beauty. It’s sort of an anti-bleaching campaign. However, the essence of the Melanin Girls Campaign is for everyone to embrace their beauty in its natural form regardless of colour.

I hope the campaign will be well received by the South African audience as well as my new single and music video” expresses Økuntakinte.

No 'Shower Hour' On Big Brother Naija - Says MultiChoice

As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017. This comes to some fans as ‘decent’, following the controversies generated by that segment of the show, during the now rested continental edition, Big Brother Africa (BBA). MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth. Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25 million and a brand new KIA Sorento car. Sponsored by PayPorte, the program will run for 78 days, starting 22 January 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised launch and end on 9 April 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised finale.

When the Big Brother Naija All-Stars house first opened on July 23, the curious eyes of fans picked up on the parrot. It wasn’t just that it seemed out of place; it was also a little weird and didn’t match the decor. So the guessing game began with everyone wondering if it was just a decorative piece or if it held some significance that we had to pay attention to. Those who guessed that it had some relevance we must pay attention to were correct. A little secret you should know first - the parrot is an all-hearing one, and it will spill all the secrets it's heard at 9 pm today. It’s about to be pure mayhem, and we are here for it! For the past two weeks, the parrot has carefully listened to all the drama and gossip in the house, and it is time for the parrot to do what parrots know how to do best, gossip.
