AIRTEL GHANA COMMENCES ANNUAL BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

Airtel Ghana, the Changemaker Company has commenced its annual month-long campaign to create awareness on breast cancer throughout the month of October.

The campaign, now in its fifth year, is under the theme “Eat Well, Live Well” and will involve the rollout of innovative, insightful and fun-filled activities championed by Airtel Ghana employees to raise funds and drive public awareness on breast cancer, its prevention and management throughout the month of October.

The campaign is also a call to action for Ghanaians to live a healthy life and to undertake regular checks as experts have established that early detection and a healthy diet reduces the risk of breast cancer.

Commenting on the campaign, Hannah Agbozo, Legal & Corporate Affairs Director- Airtel Ghana said, “We have, over the past five years championed this cause, under different themes to raise awareness and raise funds internally to support organisations involved in breast cancer related causes.

This year, we are driving a number of initiatives proudly spearheaded by our employees to support the global initiative to combat breast cancer.  This year, our focus is on driving the ‘Eat well, Live well’ campaign to encourage Ghanaians to adopt healthier eating and lifestyle habits to reduce the incidence of breast cancer”.
“We will start the campaign off with our ‘Run for a Cure’ which is an employee fun race to create awareness on Friday 07 October. This will be followed by a breast cancer seminar and examination workshop and a flea market to raise funds to support this cause.

We encourage our customers and the general public to join us by actively participating or joining the conversation on our social media handles to amplify awareness on breast cancer.  You can connect with us via Facebook, Instagram, twitter and LinkedIn,” She concluded.

This year, as it has been in the past years, all funds raised internally from the campaign will be donated to an organization focused on breast cancer.  Airtel customers and the general public will be engaged through social media with the hashtag #eatwelllivewell.

Airtel Ghana continues to lead initiatives that empower and transform the lives of individuals and communities through sustainable initiatives that promote health, education and community developments.
