UNIVERSITY GOSPEL CHOIR OF THE YEAR - UGCY SET FOR SUNDAY OCTOBER 28TH

Since its launch in 2011, The University Gospel Choir of The Year, UGCY has organized eight UK annual competitions in prestigious London venues, a televised 6 part series for Viasat 1 TV (Now Kwese TV) of the maiden Ghanaian edition held in Ghana's National Theatre in 2016.

Sunday 28th September will see yet another crowning of a new giant in the fraternity of University Gospel Choirs in Ghana.

The Competition Dubbed’ University  Gospel Choir of The Year - UGCY, is in its second edition in Ghana and promises to go a notch higher than the first edition held in 2016. UGCY provides an unprecedented platform for University Gospel Choirs across the nation to develop and showcase their musical abilities.

The reigning champions, Ghamsu Choir from the University College Of Education, Winneba, are still holding the prize so dearly it will take a much stronger Choir to take over the mantle form them.

Seven university gospel choirs have qualified for this year’s edition of the competition; GHAMSU International Choir - University of Education Winneba, Kharis Choir - University of Development Studies Tamale.

Heralds of Praise - University of Ghana Legon

Miotso Contemporary Choir - Central University College

Philharmonic Choir- Accra Technical University

Wiizzy Choir - Wisconsin Int. University

Mass Choir - Mass Theatre, University of Education Winneba

These competing choirs will perform two songs each and battle it out for the Ultimate Prize. The event is scheduled for Sunday 28th October at 3pm at the liberty Assemblies of God Church, off the main Akweteman – Lapaz road.

Astute judges on the night are Mrs. Diana Hopeson, Legendary gospel musician, board member of GAMRO, Ghana music awards, formal MUSIGA president etc.

Pastor Mrs. Helen Yawson -Internationally acclaimed singer, song writer, vocal coach and legendary contemporary gospel artiste, Jennifer Jessica Danquah - Radio host positive soul food sunny fm and Freeman Ame Astute music reality coach and expert.

It promises to be a night of pure chorals and much more with the winning Universities taken away Cash Prizes, Promotional Opportunities & a On Year Bragging Right.

No 'Shower Hour' On Big Brother Naija - Says MultiChoice

As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017. This comes to some fans as ‘decent’, following the controversies generated by that segment of the show, during the now rested continental edition, Big Brother Africa (BBA). MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth. Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25 million and a brand new KIA Sorento car. Sponsored by PayPorte, the program will run for 78 days, starting 22 January 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised launch and end on 9 April 2017 with a two-hour, live, televised finale.
