Martha Ankomah Foundation Supports World Autism Day On April 2

The Martha Ankomah Foundation, a charitable organization led by Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah who is also the brand ambassador for Vitamilk Viora, will be joining the Autism Ambassadors of Ghana in celebrating the WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY.

The event is on Saturday 2nd April, 2016 and will be held at the Efua-Sutherland Children’s park in Accra, 8am prompt.

The day will be marked with an Autism awareness walk, digital awareness sessions, kid’s activities and other Autism awareness activities. It is indeed a day to celebrate and support children living with Autism.

The United Nations General Assembly, on December 18, 2007, adopted resolution 62/139 declaring April 2 every year as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD).

This aim is to encourage member countries to raise awareness about Autism and seek early diagnosis and intervention. The Autism Ambassadors of Ghana all other social organizations have then observed 2nd April as the World Autism Awareness Day and the entire month of April as the World Autism Awareness month, as observed globally.

The Autism Ambassadors of Ghana is an organization that brings together students, volunteers and various individuals to promote Autism awareness and also help support children living with Autism. The team is led by the 2014 Tigo Digital Changemaker, Alice Mamaga Akosua Amoako.

Autism is a neuro developmental disorder that affects a child in the areas of communication, social interactive skills and imagination. Children living with Autism have special abilities and potentials that makes them very unique.

There is a need for the Ghanaian society to love and accept children living with Autism and their families and not to stigmatize against them. Autism is a biological condition not a spiritual condition nor contagious.

The Martha Ankomah Foundation therefore invite all friends, colleagues and funs to join the Autism awareness walk on Saturday, 2nd April, 8am prompt to support children living with Autism in Ghana.

“Let’s all come together to support children living with Autism”…..”Autism is not a word to fear, but a child to love”………. #AutismProject
