Who Hosts Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2016?

One question almost always pops up each time Ghana’s most anticipated event draws near. Who hosts the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards?

Every year we go through the cycle of guessing, rumoring and speculating which actress, musician, radio presenter or celebrity will get to host the biggest stage in Ghana.

2016 is no different, speculations are rife and entertainment blogs are running the usual polls on who should host the VGMAs.

After the end of the long reign of Kwame Sefa Kayi it seems that fans and patron of the show have not quite found the host that they will absolutely love.

This does not mean the other hosts after him have not done well, it’s just because Kwame enjoyed monopoly for eight years.

He was like the face of the event and many people yearned to hear make his famous statement, “if you know the one seated by you should not be there or the message you left at home didn’t say you were coming here, then reconsider because we are live on GTV”. The Chairman General commanded and owned the VGMA stage.

After the 8 year reign of Kwame, we have had many hosts such as KOD, KKD, Samini, Obuor, Dentaa, Doreen Andoh, Eazzy, Joslyn Dumas, Nathaniel Attoh and Chris Attoh.

The most memorable year, perhaps was in 2010, the year of the finest. KKD loves to make a statement everywhere he goes and he did just that when he mounted the VGMA stage, he made a fashion statement as well as left us with memorable commentaries. But for the dragging comments and occasional dry jokes, KKD could have been the best MC after Kwame Sefa Kayi.

Now fast-forward to 2016, which MC will be able to command the stage and hold the ever demanding VGMA audience? Which celebrity will mount the biggest stage in Ghana? Organizers as usual, are keeping the names of the MCs close to their chest but impatient and eager as we all may be, we will have to wait till 7th May to find out who will host the 17th edition of the VGMA.

The 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is sponsored by Vodafone, supported by Star Beer, Mentos, CAPP (Pisen), Furniture City, Airport View Hotel, Kempinski Hotel and powered by Charterhouse.
