Edem: Your Favourite Rapper’s Rapper

The VRMG Boss, Edem has been on his grind for as long as many can remember. The man has survived many controversies but always had the unflinching support from his vast fan base.

Recently, there has been a raging argument on who Ghana’s favorite rapper may be. Names like Sarkodie, Okyeame Kwame, Tinny and more popped up.

Few weeks ago, Rapper Tinny, who rose to prominence with songs like “Mokola Kwakwe” and won the adoration of the GA community and the whole of Ghana, uncovered Edem as his topmost Rapper in Ghana. Tinny made this remark after being asked if Sarkodie was the biggest rapper in Ghana. This statement got the media buzzing and the fans talking.

However, Tinny isn’t the only rapper to have expressed such sentiments. In July 2015, upon a fan’s request for Sarkodie to list his best hip-hop rappers, Sarkodie chose Edem, listing J Cole as one of his favorites from the US. With this, I’m sure it came as no shock to the “illuminati” rapper when Tinny chose Edem over him.

In March 2016 too during an interview, Kumasi’s flagship rapper Okyeame Kwame, listed Edem amongst his favorite rappers of all time. Stating his abilities to stay relevant as a reason.

For those who are asking if Edem deserves the aforementioned listings, let’s throwback a bit with the man that groomed Sarkodie, Tinny, Obrafour, Edem and many others.

In September 2015, Hammer during a radio interview said, “Edem made money for me so fast within two and half years instead of five years after signing him on. He was the best artiste I have ever worked with.”

To say that Edem is your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper will be an understatement. The man has built a face for his region and opened doors for other rappers; granting Sarkodie his first feature and music video. There is no reason why Edem shouldn’t win any nominations for a rap accolade.
