Last night, Africa celebrated one of it’s biggest night in the movie industry when the 2016 Golden Movie Awards Africa came off at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. 

The Golden Movie Awards is an annual award that seeks to honor outstanding achievement in the African television, digital media and film industries and is administered by the expert in the Cinema & Television, the Awards recognizes film Excellence in a variety of categories for an international appeal.

The night was filled with glitz  and glamour as celebrities and movie lovers thronged the Kempinski Hotel for the 2nd edition of the award show.

The red carpet session which was hosted by Selly Galley and Uti from Nigiria saw various celebrities from the likes of Joycelyn Dumas, Martha Ankoma, Shirley Frimpong, Bibi Bright, Elikem, Harold, Eddie Nartey, Too Sweet Annan, Kofi Adjorlolo, Jasmine Baroudi, Van Vicker, Nadia Buari, Shatta Wale, and several others make huge fashion statements on the night.


The main show which started at 9:45pm and ended at 12:23am was hosted by Anita Erskine and Ghana’s comedy king, DKB.

Incase you didn’t know, the Golden Movie Awards is not a popularity based awards but a performance based awards and the power to determine who wins what is in the sole hands of the Grand Jury. With the only two categories in the hands of the public, which is the favorite characters.

No 'Shower Hour' On Big Brother Naija - Says MultiChoice

As preparations are in top gear for the second edition of social reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria, organisers have revealed that there will be no broadcast of nude footage called ‘Shower Hour’, when the show returns on January 22, 2017. This comes to some fans as ‘decent’, following the controversies generated by that segment of the show, during the now rested continental edition, Big Brother Africa (BBA). MultiChoice is bringing back the Nigerian version of the series after 10 years. It had announced after the last edition of BBA that each African country will stage the show henceforth. Renamed Big Brother Naija, the show will have 12 housemates who will compete for the prize of N25 million and a brand new KIA Sorento car.
