Shatta Wale Gives Back To Society Through Shatta Supports

Born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, he is better known in showbiz circles as Shatta Wale.

Without a doubt, the Country Boss, as most of his fans refer to him, has cemented his place in the global music space as the King of African Dancehall and currently the biggest Ghanaian musician around.

The “world acclaimed lyrical entertainer” has recently been in the news internationally for all the right reasons. This follows a momentous collaborative work with controversial Jamaican musician and dancehall “hot head”, Alkaline.

After the two performed to thousands of music lovers at the Accra Sports Stadium in March 2016, Shatta Wale featured on the remix of Alkaline’s hit single “All About the Money” and the song is currently receiving heavy rotations on several platforms globally.

As if that isn’t enough, Shatta Wale was recently endorsed by another Jamaican heavyweight when it comes to dancehall music, Shawn Storm, the right hand man of the incarcerated and the biggest Dancehall musician of our time, Vybz Kartel, of the famous Gaza Empire. And according to the Country Boss, a collaboration is in the pipeline with Shawn Storm and possibly other members of the Gaza Empire.

On the local scene, Shatta Wale has been trending after the announcement of the commencement of his corporate social responsibility activities with focus on education and health. Termed as Shatta Supports, it includes other social intervention programs aimed at building the capacities of the underprivileged in society to equip them to take advantage of opportunities that will come their way.

In an exclusive interview with Shatta Wale, he said “Shatta Supports is the corporate social responsibility arm of Shatta Movement which seeks to develop the socio-human capital of Ghana by improving the quality of people’s lives through appropriate and sustainable social interventions in identified areas. As a celebrity, it is my way of giving back to the very people who have supported me to get to the top. It is very important to use my status to impact positively on their lives”.

The dancehall King indicated that as a unit, Shatta Supports aims at having a broad community impact as well as supporting national and international development priorities.

For choosing education and health, he said “in recent times, the falling standards of education across the Ghanaian educational system has become obvious. This calls for a pragmatic approach in ensuring that the issue is tackled from the core.

A healthy people is a healthy country so it’s important to pay attention to the health of the citizens. That explains why I want to focus on the two for now, but there will be other areas we will be looking at as the campaign progresses”.

As the country prepares for the general elections in November, Shatta Wale is launching a peace advocacy campaign under the Shatta Supports initiative. According to the “Kakai” hit maker, “together with my team, we are rolling out a peace advocacy campaign to be known as One Nation One People which seeks to promote peace and stability in the country before, during and after the election.

We all know what happened in 2008 and 2012 during the elections and it is important we preach peace at all times. This is the only country we have and we have to protect it and ensure we build it to become a better place for ourselves and the future generation”.

On the sustainability of these initiatives, Shatta revealed that “a team will soon be out doored that will take charge of the daily activities for the various activities under Shatta Supports.

In addition, we are in talks with our partners and other entities within Corporate Ghana to come on board to ensure we achieve our target of executing activities on a yearly basis in various sectors as well as areas of the country. Our target is to impact lives nationwide and for as many people as possible to benefit from our activities. You can trust my team to deliver at any time!”
