After what seemed like an eternity in the decision-making on Shatta Wale’s fate with regards to attaining a nod at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, the organizers – Charterhouse via the Board of the scheme has finally spoken!
Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has been disqualified from the 17th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Executive Director of Charter House Theresa Ayoade revealed that Shatta Wale would only be considered for a nomination if he fully apologises to the VGMAs board after maligning them in several posts last year.
Making the announcement at a Press Conference Tuesday, Ms. Ayoade also revealed that the Gospel Album of the Year category has been scrapped for this year's awards due to the fact that few gospel albums were submitted and those submitted failed to meet the basic requirements.
Meanwhile, the Lifetime Achievement Awards will be merged with MUSIGA Merit Award this year.
The Industry Awards Night which usually precedes the main Awards Night has also been scrapped by Charter House.
The awards night has been slated for May 7, 2016 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
