Patoranking ,Skales , Ycee, Nasty c, Runtown, Koker & Simi To Rock Lagos Ahead Of Mama #MTVMAMA2016

With just six weeks to go until the MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 (MAMA), a dazzling line-up of artists is set to headline Lagos’s annual Road to MAMA party, taking place this year at the Hard Rock Cafe, Lagos on Sunday 2 October.

The MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 are brought to you by Joburg Tourism in partnership with Absolut Vodka and Google, and in association with MTN and DStv.

Headlining the gig is reggae-dancehall star Patoranking, who wowed Durban music fans at last year’s spectacular ceremony and took home the award for MAMA Best New Act at the 2015 MAMA. He’ll be joined by Hip Hop freshman Nasty C who’s – set to heat up the MAMA main stage in Johannesburg - and fast-rising Hip Hop star Ycee, who’s also been confirmed to perform at the show.

More Nigerian Hip Hop artistry will be showcased by prolific rapper Skales, while Runtown will be showing off his R&B/reggae moves. Rising Afro-Pop/Highlife newcomer Koker and award-winning “Love don’t Care” songbird Simi complete the line-up.

There will be added excitement at this year’s gig, as MTV Base will be revealing nominees in 7 different MAMA categories, including Best Female, Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Rounding out the evening with some hot deck action will be DJs Xclusive, Humility, Kaywise, Hazan and Ttb.

Tickets for Road to MAMA – Lagos will be available at the Hard Rock Café, Lagos. Doors open at 21:00 WAT. Over 18s only.

Highlights of Road to MAMA – Lagos will air on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) in October 2016.

Telenovela Channel Eva+ Launches On GOtv And DStv In November

Eva+ will begin airing on Tuesday, 1st of November on GOtv Plus on channel 113 as well as all DStv packages on channels 142. Similarly to Eva, Eva+ will offer high production value Latin American telenovelas fully dubbed in English and Portuguese languages, and will be the first channel in AMC Networks International UK’s (AMCNI UK) regional portfolio to be available on MultiChoice’s DTT platform. Somi Named Spotify’s EQUAL Africa Artist For August

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and playwright Somi has been announced as Spotify’s EQUAL Africa artist for the month of August. Celebrated globally for her narrative richness and genre-defying sound, Somi has built an extraordinary career bridging African rhythms with contemporary American jazz. The announcement coincides with the release of her highly anticipated new album, What Does It Take to Bloom?, dropping on August 7, on Salon Africana. The 13-track project, led by the poignant single We’re All Falling, is an intimate meditation on self-discovery, identity, and finding belonging amid life's dissonance. Co-produced by Somi alongside Benjamin James (of Nigerian Highlife duo The Cavemen.), the album features guest appearances from The Cavemen. and acclaimed jazz saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin. Recorded across Dakar, Lagos, Paris, and New York City, the album weaves global sensibilities into Somi's most personal work to date.
