Starr FM’s Naa Ashorkor Unveiled As Lydia Ambassador

Starr 103.5FM’s mid -morning host, Naa Ashorkor, has been appointed as the ambassador for the Lydia range of female contraceptives.

The appointment comes as the company launched a campaign to begin a massive behavioral change towards the use of contraceptives in Ghana.

The '360 campaign' for Lydia has been titled #IPlan.

The initiative which was spearheaded by NGO DKT International aims at empowering women across the country to know how relevant and important it is to plan birth cycles. The campaign will see short videos on TV and radio advertisements educating the public on various birth control plans available and disabuse perception around them.

The ever vibrant host of 'The Zone' on Starr 103.5FM, Naa Ashorkor, said her joy to accept the ambassadorial role is the ability not only to change lives but also help people be more responsible for birth choices to better their life plans.

"You must be able to plan your life. That is one sure way to meet your dreams and aspirations in a set time. I have planned mine and it's going well. Many others as well. There are many examples that we will tell to encourage people to plan and space their children comfortably," she said.
The event also saw wife of Okyeame Kwame, Annica Nsiah-Apau, Tv hosts Kokui Selormey and Stacy Amoateng share their experiences about how using contraceptives has helped propel their careers.

The General Manager - Marketing for DKT International, Kelly de Vries Adosu is optimistic the strategies to execute the #IPlan campaign will help defuse cultural and religious perception about the use of contraceptives.

"DKT understands that contraceptives use is still a cultural and a religiously sensitive topic. However, the negative impact of unwanted pregnancies on the development on an individual, the future of a family and even the nation as a whole when it comes to economic cost, is enormous and therefore DKT had to plan a new campaign that was capable of tackling these sensitivities head-on."

The #IPlan campaign is said to be the next game changer in Ghana's family planning agenda.
