Patoranking, Diamond Platnumz, Emtee, Kwesta Join MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 Performer Line Up

VIMN Africa and MTV Base have revealed that Diamond Platnumz, Emtee, Kwesta and Patoranking are to join the glittering ranks of performers at the MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016.

They will be joining previously announced performers Alikiba, Babes Wodumo, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Ycee and Yemi Alade on the MAMA stage at the Ticketpro Dome, October 22nd 2016.

Last year’s Best New Act winner Patoranking is again in contention for the 2016 awards – nominated this year for Best Male, where he goes head-to-head against last year’s winner, Tanzanian Bongo Flava star, Diamond. Patoranking also scored a second nomination in the 2016 awards for Best Collaboration for “No Kissing” feat. Sarkodie.

After a standout year, Emtee received his first MAMA nod this year in the hotly contested Best Hip Hop category, while “Ngud” star Kwesta still has to learn if he’s scored a nod in MAMA 2016.

MAMA 2016 will celebrate African talent across 18 award categories, including Best Male, Best Female, Listener’s Choice and Best Group. The contribution of artists from Portuguese and French-speaking Africa is recognised in the Best Lusophone and Best Francophone categories. Additional categories include the Africa Re-Imagined Award and Personality of the Year.

Telenovela Channel Eva+ Launches On GOtv And DStv In November

Eva+ will begin airing on Tuesday, 1st of November on GOtv Plus on channel 113 as well as all DStv packages on channels 142. Similarly to Eva, Eva+ will offer high production value Latin American telenovelas fully dubbed in English and Portuguese languages, and will be the first channel in AMC Networks International UK’s (AMCNI UK) regional portfolio to be available on MultiChoice’s DTT platform. Somi Named Spotify’s EQUAL Africa Artist For August

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and playwright Somi has been announced as Spotify’s EQUAL Africa artist for the month of August. Celebrated globally for her narrative richness and genre-defying sound, Somi has built an extraordinary career bridging African rhythms with contemporary American jazz. The announcement coincides with the release of her highly anticipated new album, What Does It Take to Bloom?, dropping on August 7, on Salon Africana. The 13-track project, led by the poignant single We’re All Falling, is an intimate meditation on self-discovery, identity, and finding belonging amid life's dissonance. Co-produced by Somi alongside Benjamin James (of Nigerian Highlife duo The Cavemen.), the album features guest appearances from The Cavemen. and acclaimed jazz saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin.
