MISS MALAIKA GHANA DONATES 10K AND BOOKS TO ADUMASA READING PROJECT

Once every year, Miss Malaika Ghana encourages it’s delegates to embark on charity and cultural tasks because organizers believe that two of the core attributes of a good queen hover around understanding her roots and having a kind and charitable heart.

It was therefor apt and right that once again, the 16 delegates for Miss Malaika Ghana 2016 were asked to pick a mentor for their charity and cultural task and what better mentor to pick than a woman with a good heart, style and a rich cultural legacy, Oheneyere Gifty Anti.

With her royal home not too far from the capital city Accra, the delegates decided pay a visit to Adumasa, where her husband, the celebrated Nana Ansa Kwaw is King. The motive, aside acquainting themselves with the rich cultural heritage of the area, was also to raise funds for a project that will be beneficial to the community. Adumasa is a beautiful small town located up the hill from Akosombo in the Eastern region.

On arrival, the delegates were shocked to see the entire community come out in style to welcome them with pump and pageantry, cultural richness and a lot of love.  As tradition would have it, they first paid a courtesy call to the chiefs, queen mothers and elders of Adumasa.

Right after the courtesy call, delegates who had spent weeks raising funds for Oheneyere Gifty Anti’s project in Adumasa called the AWO DANSO READING PROJECT, donated 10,000 cedis cash, stationery and books to the reading project.

After the donation, the entire township gathered at well-organized durbar to outdoor the ladies to the people of Adumasa, with chiefs and queens and natives dressed in colourful traditional outfits that depicted their culture.

The delegates danced, sang and exhibited the rich culture of their various regions to the people of Adumasa. All sixteen ladies individually brought gifts from their regions and presented them to Oheneyere. It was the first time beauty queens had spent time and donated to the people of Adumasa and they were more than appreciative.

Oheneyere Gifty Anti in expressing her gratitude encouraged each and every delegate to remember that it is a competition but it is important to be united as women.

Miss Malaika is deeply grateful to the King of Adumasa, and his beautiful wife Gifty Anti, the chiefs, queens and the people of Adumasa for receiving and giving them an experience they will never forget.

The 14th edition of Miss Malaika Ghana airs every Sunday at 6pm on E-TV and at 7pm on GHONE TV. It is produced by CH Live with support from RENAULT from Premium Motors, Kenya Airways, Abbeam Institute of Technology, GTP Nustyle, Lydia Contraceptives and our media partners.
