Ghana Fashion Design Week 2016

The eyes of the world will soon converge on Accra, Ghana for the Ghana Fashion & Design Week 2016.  Running from the 21th to 23rd of October 2016, this year’s event has been tagged; the Neo Africa edition.

Fashion designers, models, artists, fashion buyers, journalists and fashion lovers from the world over will meet to witness what makes Ghana’s fashion unique at the Luxury Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.

The Ghana Fashion and Design Week GFDW 2016 will feature trade shows, runway shows and fashion parties. These events create the right atmosphere for local and global labels to connect, establish common grounds for collaborations while celebrating the artistic genius of Ghana. 

The Ghana Fashion & Design Week program will include

     The GFDW Runway Shows, they present new season collections from designers in Ghana to the world.

     Fashion workshops that enable information exchange, knowledge transfer and networking opportunities.


     GFDW Showrooms featuring fashion products, accessories and textiles.

These fashion events introduce promising artists from 2nd Image Academy, HOD Fashion Design and the various fashion houses around Accra.

This year’s event has a designated slot for new upcoming fashion graduates; some talents who will display their collections include Radiant Jackson, Michael Owusu and Julia Shika Odamtten.

 While not all Fashion events of the GFDW will be open to the public, if you happen to be in Accra this time of the year, take a moment to explore the fashion landscape in Accra.

 You can shop for some of last season’s fashion items in the Vlisco store at the Accra Mall; the store features designers expressing their work on fabrics. They sell fashion accessories, clothes, shoes and bags.

 Visit the RenéeQ label Boutique in the Marina Mall, Osu to explore their range Ghanaian fashion with a blend of foreign brands like Prada, Kurt Geiger and Zara.

The Christie Brown Boutique is renowned for reinventing contemporary Ghanaian fashion; they sell traditional beads, couture pieces, accessories and good fabric.
For International visitors who might want to book hotels near the event venue, La Palm Royal Beach hotel and Labadi beach hotel are along the La road, Accra.

ONUA TV INTRODUCES NEW EXCITING CONTENT
