MAKING A CASE FOR DJ VYRUSKY

SINCE THE NOMINATION LIST FOR THIS YEAR’S GHANA DJ AWARDS WAS RELEASED, the question of who deserved the ultimate prize of the night-BEST DJ OF THE YEAR– has been on-going.

The list features some of the best hands on the turntables.

One DJ who has exhibited stellar qualities on the decks and blown the minds of many music lovers as well as revelers with his showmanship is none other than DJ Vyrusky.

The Starr 103.5 FM DJ has put in much work that surpasses all those nominated alongside him-the possible exception being DJ Black, who is a potential threat to Vyrusky.

But, in my estimation, Vyrusky ranks slightly higher than Black per the year 2015 and the first quarter of 2016.

Works:

From exciting people on radio to boosting the adrenaline rush of revelers and getting others thrilled with his mixtapes, DJ Vyrusky has made an impression on many who have come in contact with his works.

Anyone who has listened to Vyrusky’s show on Starr FM would attest to his deftness-his playlist crosses genres, it’s matured and hip at the same time; keeping both the old and the youth excited. But, the real Vyrusky Experience is felt outdoors; at open air events or music concerts where his accolade as the ‘Turn Table Master’ comes to the fore.

The 2015 Club DJ of The Year had kept it super lit at every show he has DJed. His incredible talent has seen him man the music consuls at the 2015 Tigo Meet Naija Concert, the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Red Room and the MTN Pulse Show held in Kumasi last year.

And guess which DJ the three leading Telcos turned to for their biggest roadshows and concerts? DJ Vyrusky of course. From Tigo Unplugged Concert in Kumasi, the Vodafone X Shows in Accra, Sunyani and Koforidua and MTN Pulse Concert across the regions of Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra.

The DJ for Starr Drive-hosted by Bola Ray and Anita Eeskine-, doubles as the DJ for dancehall act MzVee. He has in recent times released a series of mixtapes; the recent being the 1957 Mix-a collection of some of the hit songs from 1957 till present. Not to mention the Hello Hotline mix he put out-a mix of Drake and Adele’s top charting singles.

The DJ sometimes called “The Life of the Party’ has had an incredible year and it is not therefore surprising that he was nominated in three other categories- Event DJ of the Year; Artist DJ of The Year and Mixtape DJ of the Year.

For those who are yet to feel the Vyrusky Experience, check out the mix below. And I dare say he is the definition of turntable entertainment.
