Government Is Paying Attention To the Creative Art Industry – President Obour

President of the Musician Union of Ghana, Bice Obour has disclosed that government is really paying attention to the creative art industry.

In a recent state of the nation address, President John Mahama gave a four hours speech which touched on almost every sector that contribute to the development of the nation but unfortunately the creative art sector was sidelined in his speech.

This action by the president got many media men and entertainment key players questioning the future of the creative art industry since it is almost forget when vital and key decisions are being taken for the growth of the nation.

Speaking about the move being taken by the president John Mahama during his state of the nation address, Obour reveal that according to government supports the creative art industry but people tend to politicize these issues.

He further stated that in 2012 ¢2,000,000.00 was invested into the creative art industry by the government for the first time since he became a commercial musician and the president of the union, so it will unfair to say government is not supportive of the sector.

“I think government is paying attention to the creative art industry; sometimes people tend to politicize these issues but MUSIGA for me would not be fair to government if we say government is not paying attention to the creative industry. If we have not seen at all in 2012 for the first time I became a budding musician two million cedis was invested into the music industry which led to a comprehensive study which has made recommendations that I know every time we are pushing government on.” Obour explained.

He also added that although the creative art sector was ignored in the president’s recent speech, proper measures are been taken to address the issue.

“I am aware that the past state of the nation address the sector was left out which we are using the appropriate quarters to register our displeasure.”  He said.

Obour is spear heading the 2016 edition of Ghana Music Week celebration.
