VODAFONE ICON WINNERS LEAVE FOR GLOBAL COMPETITION

Accra Academy, winners of the High School edition of Vodafone Icons competition have left Ghana for the Vodafone Freezone International High School Musical Contest in Turkey. The Bleoo Band will join other elite high school bands around the world to contest for the global prize.

Mr Patrick Kofi Mensah, Assistant Headmaster, Administration of Accra Academy, said the students are battle ready for the stake ahead. “We’ll definitely make Ghana proud by bringing the ultimate prize home”, he said.

Commenting, Agnes Emefa Essah, Marketing Director at Vodafone Ghana said:

“At Vodafone we believe in empowering people. Vodafone Icons is one of the ways we use in encouraging people to discover and develop their full potentials. We are particularly excited that Accra Academy is representing Ghana, and we are positive they will bring glory to Ghana at the Global Competition. We wish our young performers all the best. ”


The Contestants will take part in a series of activities before the main event on Friday, April 29th

Accra Academy Senior High School won the first edition of the High School edition of Vodafone Icons. As part of the prize package, they are representing Ghana at the global level. Each member of the five-man band was also given a one-year scholarship package from Vodafone and the school will be presented with a music studio with a complete band set and laptops with audio editing software for music production.

2016 Ghana Movie Awards Entry Closes October 20

The 2016 Ghana Movie Awards (MAG) has announced that entry for submission of works will close on October  20. This follows MAG's new strategy to open entry all year round immediately after hosting the awards in December. The Ghana Movie Awards is an event to recognize excellence by annually honoring achievements of actors, writers, directors, producers, technicians and other professionals in the film making industry of Ghana and the rest of Africa. It is organized by Gollywood Production Limited with support from major stakeholders of the film industry, to provide opportunities for filmmakers to have spotlight on their films. PEACE HYDE WINS BIG! FIRST GHANAIAN AWARDED AS AFRICAN BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR
