#VGMAs2016: Stand-up Comedians Would Host Better - Comedian Khemikal

The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has proven to be one of the most exciting events on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar, that music lovers nationwide would hate to miss.

Not only do Ghanaians enjoy the euphoria that comes with this exciting event but foreigners from other parts of the worlds attend to enjoy and share in the huge history of Ghanaian music.

In my view 2016 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, was just as amazing as previous editions. However, I think it would have been stepped up, if the hosts of the event had a great sense of humor.

As I followed the event, I realized the audience seemed bored, which to some extent beats my mind because you are there to enjoy so why the reluctance when the hosts of the night asks that you do something.

To some extent I wouldn't blame them. Chris Attoh and Naa Ashorkor were a great duo and have a wonderful CV for hosting events but I think if someone who is skilled with humor, preferably a stand up comedian should host the VGMA it would be more exciting.

There is currently a lot of options to choose from. From DKB, Foster Romanus, Khemikal, OB, and the only female comedian Jacinta.

If we are learning to set up stages that looks like the BET Awards, Oscars, Grammys etc. why can't we learn to use our stand up comedians to make events more exciting.

Let's not forget, entertainment isn't music alone.
