VIASAT1 TO TELECAST 2016/17 SEASON OF NBA GAMES

Basketball fans in Ghana can put their frustration to rest as Viasat1 is set to roll out LIVE telecast of the 2016/17 season of the National Basketball Association (NBA) games. The league's 71st season tips off Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, and concludes Wednesday, April 12, 2017.

Viasat1 acquired exclusive rights to telecast the NBA in partnership with Kwesé Free Sports. This NBA season kicks off Tuesday, 25th October, barely three months after Viasat1 launched the LIVE telecast of the 2016/17 season of the English Premier League. This is in quest to satisfy our audiences’ yearn to new live sports games.

Acting CEO of Viasat1, Richmond Sey, says the new NBA acquisition is a plus for the channel. “As Your Number 1 Entertainer, our primary goal is to entertain all our viewers with quality programmes. We believe our core target will appreciate the NBA, if the feedback we received from the play-offs is anything to go by.” Mr. Sey further added that there are exciting days ahead as Viasat1 will be rolling out more exciting programmes.
The opening night, Tuesday, will see Knicks visiting the defending champion Cavaliers. Four-time Kia NBA MVP LeBron James and the Cavaliers will receive their championship rings in a televised ceremony before taking on the Knicks, who acquired former Kia NBA MVP Derrick Rose in the offseason and hired Jeff Hornacek as head coach.

Viasat1 will, in the coming weeks, unveil a new NBA highlights show. The move is to afford viewers who miss the live telecast at night to catch up on what transpired. The show will also bring to viewers a better understanding of the NBA game and the technicalities involved.

Meanwhile, fans of NBA can watch LIVE NBA matches on Sunday and Thursday nights only on Viasat1, and get interactive with the channel on social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat) with #NBAonViasat1.
