KK Fosu stated that since he took a break from the music scene his fellow colleague Kwabena Kwabena did a good job by sustaining the High life genre. He then commended Bisa Kdei for taking over from Kwabena Kwabena and lifting the flag of high life music high in the country. KK Fosu revealed his intentions for Bisa if he is able to win artiste of the year at the pending VGMAs. Ghanaian Veteran actor, William Addo has revealed that he need GHC 5,000 for a surgery on the eye. The 66-year old actors said on  Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz on Wednesday, that he had been diagnosed of glaucoma and feared he would go blind if unable to raise the amount needed for surgery.  “I have to do a surgery on my eye. My vision is very blur. Doctors diagnosed that it is a combination of glaucoma and cataract and I need to be operated upon otherwise it’s going to cause a fracture,” he told host, KMJ. According to Mr Addo, he has sent letters to some institutions but has not heard any positive response from those quarters. President of the republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama was at the Good Friday  service held by the Light House International Church at the Black Star Square.  As the president mounted the stage to address the congregation, the crowd urged him to preach hence leading him to shared his experience in preaching the gospel of Christ.  His excellency John Dramani Mahama stated that it's not an easy task to mount the podium as a preacher. Back in his church at Assemblies of God, he shared that he had the opportunity to preach the word during their Men Ministries Day, but the president confessed that he had sleepless night prior to the service since he didn't know what to preach.  He also added that one must have a divine inspiration to be able to preach the word of God.

Gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy was in her full flow at the Dome of the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi when she thrilled thousands on Easter Sunday at MTN Choralfest. ‘Let’s Talk Consent’ is a sex education workshop that focuses on respect and human dignity in sexual relationships, as expressed through asking and recognizing consent or non-consent. This workshop is running in high schools and universities across Accra. It is an initiative by Y FM’s Akosua Hanson, host of the Y Lounge in partnership with the Mbaasem Foundation, a non-governmental organization headed by Ghanaian writer, poet, activist, Ama Ata Aidoo and Kinna Likimani, book blogger and activist, that supports women and women’s writing across Africa. Passionate about issues of gender and rape, Akosua states that, “This initiative is driven largely by the need to reduce gender-based violence through sex and to curb a thriving rape culture (ie. a culture in a society that encourages rape to thrive through a myriad of ways such as the shaming of victims and perpetuating misconceptions about sex that encourage the increasing number of rape incidents).”

The renowned reggae artiste who is currently on a special assignment in the country stated that he has heard about the greatness of the team and can’t wait to see the Stars play against the Mozambique national team in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers at the Accra sports stadium. Gospel music group, Willie and Mike are currently in the United States of America taking the necessary steps to kick off their USA and Canada tour this Saturday.  The group left the country on Palm Sunday and arrived in New York twelve hours later to give them ample time to prepare for their two-month USA and Canada tour. The two-month tour starts at an Easter Convention organised by The Church of Pentecost USA, Inc at Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in California.  The duo, Willie and Mike are the headline artistes for the 2016 Easter convention, which starts from March 25 to March 27. The Okoye brothers consisting of Jude, Peter and Paul of PSquare who have made headlines more than ever due to their dispute resulting to the breakup of team PSquare have taken to the same social media they used in pouring out their feelings towards each other to apologize to their fans for their attitude towards each other which has affected their fans all over the world. Ghana Music rights Organization, GHAMRO has given a new Toyota Corolla car and motorbike to its office in the Ashanti Region.  The short ceremony to officially handover the two machines to executives in the Garden City happened on Monday, March 22, 26 at the Cultural Center. The car and motorbike were given to the office to help ease the task of collecting royalties for musicians. Chairman of GHAMRO, Kojo Antwi, presenting the items to the region advised that the car be used for its purpose. He told executives in the region not to use the car for their personal gains because it was not purchased for such a purpose but for the benefit of Ghanaian musicians. “The fact that it is for GHAMRO means there are some rules that are going to guide it but the rules are going to deal with the nature of our work. We are presenting this car to the office to see changes in the in the organization” Kojo Antwi said.

Convener, Stephanie Benson who recently battled with breast cancer called together what she described as her ‘circle of friends’ to share some ideas about how to stand strong as women despite life’s challenges and push on with their dreams. Sporting a cute pink dress, she revealed how she underwent 28 hours of surgery in three days and urged all the women around to have faith in God and confidence in themselves. The sweet thing for her was that she was still able to write songs during her down moments in the course of the fight with breast cancer. One of the songs was Dear Lord and she unveiled it at the function. Earlier, she had introduced and performed with some of the young ladies in her music academy.

Starr 103.5 FM has launched the maiden edition of its Starr Woman Project. A spin-off of the EIB-owned station’s The Zone midmorning show, it hosted some of Ghana’s leading women to a morning’s session that largely centered on the upward trajectory of society’s forward-looking females. The Starr Woman Project seeks to equip young women entrepreneurs with the relevant knowledge, skill and motivation to achieve their fullest potential as entrepreneurs. Present at the launch on Friday was celebrated broadcaster Gifty Anti, who was also joined by colleague Baisiwa Duwuona-Hammond and co-Founder and Chief Technical Officer at Logiciel Farida Bedwei. Gloval movie production has held its first national inauguration ceremony to officially outdoor its appointed executives.  The occasion which was held at the MUSIGA head office in Accra was chaired by the interim president of the Ghana Movie Actors Guild Mr Emmanuel Don Ziggy Netus. Speaking at the event, Stephen Lovely Aryee president of the production house stated that the journey has not been a smooth one but with the help of his devoted and able men Gloval is the only production house which can boast of six branches in six regions which are the Central region Ashanti region, Volta region, Eastern region, Western and the Greater Accra region. He also added that Gloval is the first Ghanaian movie production house which has branches in Switzerland and Norway of which he gave thanks to his team for their support and contribution.

The Film Producers Association of Ghana, FIPAG has opened doors for its members to submit their movies for this year’s Golden Movie Awards.  The organisation ordered its members not to file for nominations for this year’s awards when organisers announced in January that “nominations are open for consideration of awards for the 2016 Golden Movie Awards slated for May 2016.” FIPAG arrived at the decision because NMJ Ghana, organisers of the awards officially did not inform them of the event. Michael Kwaku Ola, FIPAG PRO who confirmed their unity with Golden Movie Awards organisers said, “yes its true, we had a meeting with them and we have trashed out issues”.

Most often, gospel music albums are launched in churches and sometimes at an event where specific people are specially invited to attend, but Patience Nyarko over the weekend took a twist to launch her second album dubbed ‘Wafom Kwan’ on the streets of Accra. The ‘Wafom Kwan’ album, which has already gotten the musician two nominations; ‘Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Artist’ in this year’s Ghana Music Awards, comes after a successful release of her debut album ‘Me Kasa Ama Ewuradi’, which shot her to fame in 2013.   Patience Nyarko’s ‘Wafom Kwan’ album has seven heartwarming songs which include the popular ‘Wafom Kwan’, ‘Anibre Mpeaye’, ‘Wodada’ re-mix,  ‘Ebenezer’ and many others.  Narrating her motivations behind the distinctive launch, Patience said “My fans are the people who listen and enjoy my songs, so there was the need to meet, perform and interact with them”.
