Nominations Open For Ghana UK-Based Achievements (GUBA) Awards 2017

Organizers of the Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards have announced the nominations for the anticipated GUBA 2017 Awards. The nominations serve as a prelude to the awards which is scheduled to take place in June 2017.

The nomination process provides the public with a platform to acknowledge and recognise change makers within their communities. GUBA Awards nominees are selected by the public, shortlisted and put forward for a public vote. Successful candidates are then accredited and celebrated on the awards night.

Currently in its 6th year, GUBA will celebrate its anniversary in conjunction with Ghana at 60, with an array of Black Star, Community, Business and Entertainment awards.  The diverse categories on offer for nominations this year are:

  •     Business Start Up of the Year Award
  •     Efie Ne Fie Entrepreneur Award
  •     Best Corporate Citizenship Award
  •     Professional of the Year Award
  •     Young & Talented Award
  •     Vlogger Award
  •     Animator of the Year Award
  •     Best Ghanaian Alumni Award
  •     Best Charity of the Year Award
  •     Student Achiever of Excellence Award
  •     GUBA Scholar Award

This is an opportunity for the public to nominate well deserved and soon to be celebrated persons of Ghanaian heritage. Expressing her views on nominations, the CEO of the GUBA Enterprise, Mrs Dentaa Amoateng MBE stated:

“The nomination process is a very crucial part of the awards. There are many talented and hardworking individuals yet to be acknowledged, and the public play an important role in nominating such individuals. This is one of my favourite parts of the awarding process as there are many skilled individuals brought to light.”

GUBA 2017 is on course to be a memorable and entertaining event celebrating sixty years of Ghana’s Independence and six years of the GUBA Awards.

2016 Ghana Movie Awards Entry Closes October 20

The 2016 Ghana Movie Awards (MAG) has announced that entry for submission of works will close on October  20. This follows MAG's new strategy to open entry all year round immediately after hosting the awards in December. The Ghana Movie Awards is an event to recognize excellence by annually honoring achievements of actors, writers, directors, producers, technicians and other professionals in the film making industry of Ghana and the rest of Africa. It is organized by Gollywood Production Limited with support from major stakeholders of the film industry, to provide opportunities for filmmakers to have spotlight on their films. It also aims to promote and support Ghanaian filmmaking. PEACE HYDE WINS BIG! FIRST GHANAIAN AWARDED AS AFRICAN BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR

Ghana’s Peace Hyde has once again put Ghana on the map by winning the African Broadcaster of the year award in the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards 2016.  Peace recently made history by becoming the first Ghanaian to secure the coveted position of Forbes Africa Correspondent, a role which sees her representing the West African region for the prestigious leading business magazine.
