AFRIMA UNITES P-SQUARE IN 13-SONG PERFORMANCE

…as Maydee features in the historic comeback.

The 2016 All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA, main awards ceremony came to a climatic end with a 13-song high-octane performance from PSquare, Africa's biggest music duo, who churned out back to back medley of their greatest hits on Sunday, November 6 2016 at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

African fans of Peter and Paul Okoye, the dynamic twin brothers who make up the legendary music group, were overjoyed to welcome the brothers on their first continental live performance stage since their reconciliation after the very public family feud which threatened the existence of the multi-award winning group.

Winner of the AFRIMA 2014 Best African Group Category, PSquare reminded the more than 5,000 audience members at the awards, consisting of government officials, other African artistes and guests, why they are still a force of reckon in the African music industry. The duo worked the crowd into a frenzy with hits like "Beautiful Onyinye", "E No Easy", "Shekini", "Do Me" and "Ifunaya". More excitement was to follow when PSquare invited Nigerian music act and former label mate, Maydee on stage for a performance of their collaborative hit song "Chop My Money".
However, the high point of the PSquare's appearance at the AFRIMA 2016 main awards stage was the collaboration with Tanzania's music sensation, Diamond Platnumz (winner of the 2016 AFRIMA for Song of the Year) on recent collaborative chart buster, "Kidogo". The awards crowd was kept on its feet throughout the history making closing performance.
Hosted in Nigeria by Lagos State, the Official Host City, AFRIMA 2016 main awards ceremony was an exhibition of the cultural uniqueness of Africa and the host city. One of the objectives of AFRIMA is to create a platform for uniting Africans and celebrating the talents in the music industry of Africa.

It was indeed a befitting end to an unprecedented AFRIMA Week of festivities. The frenzy started with the massive hype in every conceivable media announcing the AFRIMA 2016 like never before. And when the curtains dropped on Friday November 4, THE AFRICA MUSIC ROUNDTABLE, assembled African eggheads to chart a course for Music Industry in Africa.

Later at sunset of same day, an intimidating stage, at the Lagos Beach heralded the biggest music concerts in Lagos. Over 35 African musicians, headlined by world renowned King of Afrobeat, FEMI KUTI, mounted the stage one after the other to make Africa proud.
Following day Saturday, November 5, 2016 took the artiste on a tour of the Lagos City the host city, culminating in a WELCOME RECEPTION BY THE ENIGMATIC GOVERNOR OF THE STATE, AKINWUNMI AMBODE.

The Sunday awards day was again specially graced by the governor, his wife, and members of the state government cabinet. In attendance expectedly were all the top officials of AFRIMA INTERNATIONAL supported by AU, representatives.
