“ENTERTAINMENT LOVED BY AFRICA” - AFRICA MAGIC CHANNELS TO REBRAND ON DStv & GOtv THIS NOVEMBER

Africa Magic viewers on DStv and GOtv will notice something very different about their favourite entertainment channels. With a new tagline, “Entertainment loved by Africa”, the Africa Magic brand has been refreshed and all the channels now have new logos and an exciting new look and feel, whilst retaining their names and unforgettable African storytelling.

The rebranding is part of taking Africa Magic’s development strategy to another level, and follows the redefinition of the Africa Magic channels in 2014 and the launch of Africa Magic Igbo in 2015.

Speaking on the channels’ rebranding, the General Manager, MultiChoice Ghana, Cecil Sunkwa Mills said:” MultiChoice is proud to offer our subscribers the best in African entertainment on our Africa Magic channels. Our viewers on DStv and GOtv can continue to enjoy the best movies, drama series and reality shows on the Africa Magic channels; all with an exciting new look and feel. We encourage them to tune in to DStv and GOtv to see and experience Africa Magic like never before.”

Africa Magic’s rebranding marks another highlight in the brand’s evolution from one channel in 2003 to eight channels offering entertainment content across different genres. The channels include:

•    Africa Magic Showcase (DStv channel 151), home to original hit shows such as Tinsel, Hush, with emphasis on premium African content, from blockbuster movies to must-watch series.

•    Africa Magic Epic (DStv channel 152 and GOtv channel 109), rooted in culture and home to the best epic movies from the continent

•    Africa Magic Urban (DStv channel 153), with content drawn from ‘real life, real stories’ based on contemporary tales told in modern settings.

•    Africa Magic Family (DStv channel 154 and GOtv channel 102), a familiar channel for viewers on the continent, and jam-packed with stars and stories.

Other channels are Africa Magic World (DStv channel 155 and GOtv channel 110) and the local language General Entertainment channels: Africa Magic Hausa (DStv channel 156 and GOtv channel 104), Africa Magic Yoruba (DStv channel 157 and GOtv channel 1055) and Africa Magic Igbo (DStv channel 159).

Also speaking on the rebranding, the Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said: “Africa Magic is undoubtedly the home of entertainment in Africa and our viewers have come to expect the best content out of the continent, from drama series and movies, to telenovelas, magazine and reality shows.

Our new logos and channel design speak truly to the channels’ audiences and unique offerings, and we are truly excited to bring to viewers the new face of the Africa Magic brand.”
