MULTICHOICE GHANA SUPPORTS MTN 10TH EDITION OF ITS ANNUAL 21 DAYS OF Y’ELLO CARE

Multichoice Ghana, the leading Pay-tv provider in Africa has recently supported MTN during the 10th edition of their annual 21 Days of Y’ello Care employee volunteer initiative.  This initiative comprises of MTN employees devoting time and resources to assist communities in development projects.

The 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign also involves competition amongst MTN operations across MTN Group’s 22 operating companies, to secure the highest number of staff involved in volunteerism and implement projects with remarkable impact. The winning operating company receives prize money of $100,000 to be reinvested in community projects.

MTN Ghana remains the most awarded for volunteerism and projects, picking up the 2008 WECA (West and Central Africa) Regional award, overall Y’ello Care Challenge winners for years 2010 & 2011. Additionally, MTN Ghana won Y’ello Care ICT Project for 2013, Y’ello Care Innovation Project award for 2014 and Y’ello Care Integrity Award for 2015.
With a focus on education for the fourth consecutive year, MTN staff volunteers operated under the theme “Investing in Education for All”, Multichoice Ghana supported MTN with discounted DStv Explora decoders, free subscription to the education bouquet and training for teachers  for 6 schools.

As a business, MultiChoice is conscious of its responsibility to sustain the social and economic development of Ghanaians. The company’s flagship corporate social investment project, the MultiChoice Resource Centre (MRC) programme, plays an important role in providing access to information to several high schools across the country.

The programme provides schools with the latest digital satellite technology and gives them access to content on seven premium and informative television channels through the DStv Education bouquet: National Geographic, Discovery Channel, History Channel, BBC World, Animal Planet and Mindset Learn. With the support of the Ghana Educational Service, MultiChoice Ghana has invested in 82 Ghanaian High Schools by donating fully installed DStv HDPVR decoders and television sets to the schools.

Ten schools are provided with the MRC facility yearly and two (2) teachers from each of the selected school are trained on the use of the equipment.
