Absa Bank Partners Univ. Of Ghana Career And Counselling Centre To Provide ‘ReadyToWork’ e-Learning For Students Amid COVID-19

Absa Bank Ghana has partnered the University of Ghana Career and Counselling Centre (UGCCC) to provide online learnings for all their final year undergraduate students through the bank’s ReadyToWork e-learning programme.

The partnership which is in line with Absa Bank Ghana’s Education and Skills Development programme under its Force for Good agenda, will see students of the university have access to the bank’s ReadyToWork online platform as they stay home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ReadyToWork programme is Absa Bank Ghana’s flagship digital learning curriculum initiative that helps to prepare young people to transition from school to the world of work. It equips young people with the skills they need to enhance their employment or self-employment prospects.

The ReadyToWork web portal curriculum has been upgraded to enhance students learning experience as they go through the four modules of the programme namely Work, People, Money and Entrepreneurial Skills.

Commenting on the partnership, the Marketing and Corporate Relations Director at Absa Bank Ghana, Nana Essilfuah Boison said “This partnership with the University of Ghana Career and Counselling Centre will enable students acquire soft skills needed to effectively transition from education into the world of work. We believe that this support will guide students in every step of their way as they get ready for work life, especially during a period like this when they are home and have some time on their hands.”

The Acting Director of the University of Ghana Career and Counselling Centre, Rev. Dr. Mrs. Bridget Ben-Naimah said “In the growing age of unemployment in our country coupled with the current pandemic experienced by the world it is important for students to build their soft skills for the world of work whiles they stay at home.

That's why the Careers and Counselling Centre of the University of Ghana is pleased to partner with Absa on the ReadyToWork programme.”

The Centre has collaborated with Absa in previous years and we have seen how effectively the programme has helped our students. “We therefore encourage students to sign up for the ReadyToWork programme in their numbers. We are highly grateful to Absa for their dedication to this laudable project,” added Dr. Bridget Ben-Naimah.

Students can sign up to www.readytowork.absa.africa to register. Every signed-up student who completes the learning modules within one month will be given free data.

The ReadytoWork is an online soft skills programme developed by Absa to prepare the youth for the world of work and includes topics such as Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Emotional Intelligence, Agility, CV Writing, Financial Literacy and Team Work.
