A new Feature Film ‘The Lady in a Hole’, written by ace broadcaster JOT
Agyeman is set to go into production soon. The film to be directed by
Award winning Director Shirley Frimpong Manso is set-in two-time zones.
The Film tells the story of Frema, a royal from Besease in Ashanti who was kidnapped by slave raiders and sent to the Cape Coast Castle where she was brutally mistreated and assaulted. The story is told through Kitiwa in 1960’s Cape Coast who struggles to bring to light the horrifying tales of slavery meted out to those who were unfortunate to be captured in the 18thcentury.
This year Ghana has declared ‘The year of return’ and this film is set to shake the very foundations of our beliefs and prick our conscience on what our understanding of slavery is.
Already the film is attracting sponsors including GOIL Ltd and the Institute of Media Practice. Once production is over, the film will be presented to Film Theatres across the globe. It is estimated that over thirty million people will see the film set to be released in September or October this year.
