The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017 and 2018, approved a 14-member committee to select a film to represent Ghana at the 90th Oscars.
Following the guidelines of the Academy, the committee was tasked to select from open submissions one film to represent Ghana at the awards. Unfortunately, Ghana could not submit a movie on the back of the submitted movies’ inability to meet the required standards.
The committee, which has since been reconstituted, is currently calling on Ghanaian filmmakers to submit movies for selection for the 92nd Oscars – slated on Feb, 2020, Hollywood.
The committee will watch the submitted movies and select those that meet the requirements and pass them on to the Oscar committee in California.
The category is the International feature film.
