Juliet Bawuah Wins African Woman In Sport Award


The Group Head of Sports at Media General (TV3, 3FM, Onua FM, Onua TV, Connect FM, Akoma FM), Juliet Bawuah has won this year’s African Woman in Sport award at the GSport Awards.

Held in South Africa on Tuesday August 31, Juliet beat off competition from South African footballer Ode Fulutudilu and Violet Jubane, a Zimbabwean football administrator.

“Honoured to have won the Imperial African Woman in Sport award at last night's GSport Awards in South Africa. This is a win for all African women in sport putting in effort to achieve their set goals. Big thanks to the jury and fans who voted @gsport4girls #gsport16 #SheOwnsHerSuccess,” she posted on Twitter.

The GSport Awards was founded in 2006 by South African Cricket Presenter Kass Naidoo to celebrate and promote African women in sport.

This year marked the award’s 16th edition.

The GSport recognition adds to a tall list of awards and nominations Juliet continues to receive. It is coming on the back of her recent nomination in the 2021 EMY Awards Young Achiever of the Year category.

Her other professional recognitions include: Video Short Feature Shortlist and Video Athlete Profile Shortlist, 2020 International Sport Press Association (AIPS) Awards. Previously, in the same scheme in 2019, she was Top Ranked Entrant (Number 1 work in Africa, 7th in the World – Video Short Feature category); Finalist, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2020, Ghana), Winner, Sports Journalist of the Year, National Communications Awards (2019, Ghana), Winner, Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA), Sports Journalist (2019) and Finalist, Sports Media Pearl Awards, Dubai, UAE, 2015).

Prior to TV3, Juliet worked at CITI FM, ETV, Metro TV, Goal, CafOnline, Euronews’ sister station, Africanews. She is also a Contributor for Premier League TV, LA Liga TV, BBC, Aljazeera, and the Turkish broadcaster TRT.
 
Juliet is Radio Netherlands Training Centre (RNTC) trained and an alumna of the US State Department-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Her other professional affiliations cover Ballon d’Or (Women’s Category) – Member, Voting Jury, CAF African Footballer of the Year – Member, Voting Jury, FourFourTwo Awards – Member, Voting Jury, CAF Media Expert – Member, Panel, International Sports Journalists Association (AIPS) – Member, Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) – Member and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) – Member.

Juliet is Founder of the Africa Women’s Sports Summit, CEO of Sportted Ghana Limited, a boutique sports agency and also the immediate past Brand & Strategy Relations Manager at Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea.

2016 Ghana Movie Awards Entry Closes October 20

This follows MAG's new strategy to open entry all year round immediately after hosting the awards in December.
