National and West African Boxing Union (WABU) lightweight champion, Rilwan "Real One" Oladosu, has expressed delight over his emergence as best boxer at GOtv Boxing Night 17, which held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on Friday. The best boxer award fetched him N3million in cash prize along with the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy. It is the second time the flamboyant boxer would be winning the prize. His previous one earned him N2.5 million. Vodafone Ghana has officially reached an agreement with the National Communications Authority (NCA) for the purchase of one slot of the 2×5MHz frequency spectrum in the 800MHz band for mobile services. The slot, purchased at the cost of US$30million, was awarded to Vodafone following successful financial negotiations with the NCA, in line with the Authority’s published programme for the bid process. The award paves the way for Vodafone to operate an LTE 4G spectrum frequency to enhance the user experience for its customers.  Commenting, Yolanda Cuba, Chief Executive of Vodafone Ghana, said: "We are excited that after three years of persistent constructive engagement with the regulator and policy makers, we now have the opportunity to operate an LTE 4G licence in Ghana. Telecom giant, Vodafone Ghana, appears poised to ensure Ghanaians from all walks of life enjoy a fantastic yuletide season this year. The company, in a move to ensure that the underprivileged in society get a feel of the Christmas and New Year festivities, has embarked on a drive to fete children in some orphanages in the country. The company on Friday put smiles on the faces of children at the Teshie Orphanage as it presented provisions, gifts and a cash amount of GHS 2,000 to managers of the facility. The move forms part of a campaign dubbed, 'Bronya aye de'. The 'Bronya aye de' campaign by Vodafone Ghana will see 11 selected orphanages, one of which is the Teshie Orphanage, benefit in cash and kind ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.

According to the rejoinder, Shatta Wale has never been in touch with the said lady, more or less dupe her of the said money. A total of 30 GOtv decoders will be given out at GOtv Boxing Night 17, holding on 28 December at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. This was announced yesterday by Flykite Productions, organisers of the event. According to Jenkins Alumona, Managing Director, Flykite Productions, this will be the highest number of decoders given out since the event began in 2014. In previous editions, he recalled, the number of decoders given out ranged between 10 and 20.  He explained that the number has been increased by the sponsors in appreciation of the support fans have given to the event and as a way of celebrating the festive season. The 30 decoders will be won through lucky dips to be held in between fights.

Ghanaian lawyer and TV personality, Sandra Ankobia has taken a swipe at rapper Sarkodie over his recent twitter rant which involved calls for Africa to revert to dictatorship. In a series of tweets, the Sarkcess Music boss aired his displeasure with certain developments on the continent. He wrote: “What we need at this point might seem like dictatorship and will feel uncomfortable since we have enjoyed temporal [sic] freedom for a minute but we need drastic measures to survive.” Sandra Ankobia, who was not amused by Sarkodie’s remarks, quipped, “If dictatorship was such a good thing, why would our forefathers fight so hard to gain independence for us.” “I don’t think it [dictatorship] was the best of time and we are so blessed to be in this present time and to be enjoying the freedom and all that comes with it,” she added.

Meshack "Smart Boy" Mwankemwa, the Tanzanian billed to fight US-based Nigerian boxer, Oluwafemi "The Eagle" Oyeleye, in an international middleweight challenge at GOtv Boxing Night 17 has pulled out of the fight after picking up an injury in training. Oyeleye will now fight Ghana's Victus Kemavor at the event, which holds on 28 December at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The news of Mwankemwa’s injury was communicated on Tuesday, the event organisers said. However, the nature of the injury was not disclosed. Kemavor is highly rated in Ghana and around West Africa and is expected to provide Oyeleye a stiff test. Seven other bouts are scheduled for the show, with the biggest being the World Boxing Federation (WBF) Intercontinental super featherweight title bout between Segun “The Machine” Wahab of Nigeria and Issa “Peche Boy” Nampepeche of Tanzania. DDB Lagos emerged the biggest winner at the 2018 Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) awards, which held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos. Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame is not resting on his oars as far as show business is concerned.
