It was a revered night for Ghana when the 2018 Miss Pan African Queen International beauty pageant was held over the weekend in Lagos, Nigeria. Miss Harriet Lamptey, Ghana's representative to the prestigious beauty contest won Africa's Top Model title, following an educative and entertaining battle for the covetous crown. Entirely, she also emerged as the 2nd runner-up at the contest which was full of beauty, glitz and glamour. Ghanaian Broadcast journalist, Serwaa Amihere has expressed optimism in using her brief experience at the BBC to improve on her journalism skills while calling on other media personnel to invest in their career. She made this known while sharing her experience after a brief production tour of the headquarters of global media giant, BBC in London. The 2018 Ghana's best female newscaster award recipient described the tour as enlightening, detailing her observation of how news is produced, scripts are edited, through to the final stage of broadcast to millions of viewers across the globe. She hoped the experience will also enhance her skills as an anchor. "I sat in their editorial meetings, and went round the various departments and offices. Former President J. J. Rawlings has commended Miss Universe Ghana for supporting young Ghanaian women and promoting Ghana’s tourism. At a meeting with the winner of this year’s pageant, Miss Akpene Diata Hoggar and the organiser of the event, Mrs Menaye Donkor Muntari, the former Head of State urged corporate Ghana to support the Miss Universe Ghana brand and the organising company, Malz Promotions, “to take the pageant higher”.  Ghanaian hip-hop/afrobeats/highlife musician AJ Nelson has announced plans to launch his debut album, titled “Africa Rise”. According to him, his management has partnered with Play Africa – a music streaming and distribution platform – to hold an album launch on Friday, November 23. The event, which will be opened to the public, will be held at the Dansoman Keep Fit Club near the Liberty Professionals stadium in Accra. “We are going to have a cool set up with the back of the ‘Africa Rise’. PlayAfrica is coming with their set green carpet and all,” said AJ Nelson on what the venue and set up will look like. On a historic night, AJ Nelson will show a documentary of his journey into the music scene and the making of the album, sell hard copies of the album and merch, and sign autographs with his fans and patrons. “Fans who will attend the event will get the pre-emption of the album,” he said.

Tarkwa came to a virtual standstill over the weekend as Gold Fields Ghana organized a music concert to climax its 25th anniversary celebration. The music concert drew over ten thousand crowd from Tarkwa and beyond who enjoyed performances from the “Fante” rap god Kofi Kinaata as well as the ladies man Kidi. Entertainment company, Zylofon Media has disassociated itself from the organization of this year’s Ghana Movie Awards. The event which has opened nominations for entries for this year’s event has had numerous questions about who is actually organising it since Zylofon Media announced some months back that they have acquired the franchise from its original owner, Fred Nuamah. Zylofon Media in a press statement forwarded to Cypress Ghana early Thursday, November 15th, 2018, has said it knows nothing about this year’s organization. The statement signed by Samuel Atuobi Baah, Communications Director at the Nana Appiah Mensah - owned company stated clearly that it is not against this year’s awards. Rising Ghanaian afrobeats musician Kojo Talr has finally dropped the official music video for his debut single, titled “Obaa Hemaa” (meaning ‘queen’). The slow-tempo jam produced by Mr Midstrike compliments African women and the unique kind of love they show men. The song is accompanied by a classy featuring a sassy young African woman who gives Kojo every reason to love her forever. “Obaa Hemaa” musician video was shot in Accra by JWillz. Kojo Talr is an afro-pop singer who doubles as a fashion designer. Ghanaian Afro pop singer, Noella Wiyaala, together with gospel sensation, Grace Ashy, are expected to thrill thousands of football lovers at the Official Opening Ceremony of the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, 17 November.  The duo will perform the official theme song for the tournament titled “We Are Campions” to excite fans who will throng the Accra Sports Stadium to witness the opening ceremony.
