2018 Miss Universe Ghana Launched

One of Ghana’s most prestigious beauty pageants, Miss Universe Ghana 2018 currently in its 26th year, has been launched in Accra.

The launch at the La Villa Boutique Hotel which was patronised by several industry players, set the tone for the 2018 search for the next Queen.

The National Director for Miss Universe Ghana, Mrs Menaye Donkor Muntari, expressed excitement for this year’s Pageant.

“As Miss Universe Ghana 2004, a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and model, I am proud to be part of the Miss Universe Ghana brand and help pave the way for other young Ghanaian women to achieve their goals.”

The entrepreneur and philanthropist, who won the Miss Universe Ghana title in 2004 and went on to represent Ghana at Miss Universe in Quito, Ecuador, added that ‘MALZ Promotions under her watch has rebranded the image of Miss Universe Ghana within a short time and successfully organized a star studded finale during last year’s competition’.

The reigning Queen, Ruth Quashie made it to the Top 16; a feat which elevated the image of Ghana in Las Vegas-USA.

The Miss Universe Ghana Organization which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ghana Tourism Authority has become an emblem of transparency, honesty, integrity, professionalism and respect.

In collaboration with the Multimedia Group, the Organization believes this year’s competition will bring a wealth of exposure to both national and international levels with an array of activities transpiring before, during and after the main event.

Speaking at the Press Launch at La Villa Boutique Hotel at Osu , the MD of the Multimedia Group, Mr Santokh Singh was delighted for partnering with the Organization. He stated “It’s time we eradicate the belief that beautiful women cannot be intelligent.” We support Miss Universe Ghana for what they stand for and represent and it’s time we empower young women to live their dreams.

The plan is to rope in international standards of production to all stages of the pageant, and prospectively encourage a positive vibe about Ghana among governments and investors – particularly those in the tourism industry, which is largely underdeveloped in Ghana.

Mrs Muntari assured that, this year’s event will be bigger and better and believes in empowering young women and breaking barriers in the man’s world. She has built a strong sisterhood with the past contestants and believes that when women come together Magic happens. She added that Pageantry promotes tourism in every country and it is our obligation as Ambasador’s to put our culture, fashion and art on the international platform. Ghana needs to be promoted globally!!!

She admitted last year’s event was very challenging but by the grace of God and a dedicated team, ‘we were able to execute the task and organize a first class event’.
