New Akwaaba Magic Telenovela High Currency To Heat Up Your Living Room


“A real woman knows her worth” that’s the tagline for High Currency, a new local telenovela starring Nikki Samonas and coming to Akwaaba Magic on 20 July. The series, which will occupy the 8:30pm slot every Wednesday and Thursday thereafter, is about power, money, greed, crime and everything else in between and the ways in which they all intersect.

High Currency stars the acclaimed Nikoletta ‘Nikki’ Samonas as Naa Adei Hammond, an ambitious and hard-working woman who’s high-powered (and dangerous) job at an investment bank is her ticket to her dream life. But all of that is derailed when she falls in love will she choose affection over money and power?

Channel head Kennedy Dankyi-Appah, says: “At Akwaaba Magic we are proud to keep pushing the envelope when it comes to the high quality local content we give our loyal viewers. While romantic love is the leading storyline on the telenovela, the show also explores the dark underbelly of capitalism and materialism, the lengths many go to for the love of money, and what people will do when faced with impossible standards that they are forced to meet.

High Currency will explore the relationships between money, power, sex, social media, and love in our contemporary world. Other cast members include Joshua Fordjour, Helen Lois, Brihanna Kinte, Kweku Elliott, Habiba Sinare and Angela Adubofuor.

Don’t miss the premiere of High Currency on Akwaaba Magic (DStv Channel 150 and GOtv Supa Channel 101 on Wednesday 20 July at 8:30pm. The sexy and fast-paced telenovela will air every Wednesday and Thursday thereafter, at 8:30pm. It’s high drama with a killer wardrobe and riveting storyline be sure to tune in.
