UBA GHANA GIVES AFRICAN LITERATURE BOOKS TO FOUR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE VOLTA REGION TO BOOST READING SKILLS

UBA Ghana has donated boxes of African Literature Books to the Peki Senior High School, Peki Secondary Technical, Tongor Senior High, and Kpeve Senior High School all in the Volta region.

This donation is in line with the UBA Foundation commitment to the education of African Youth through the Read Africa Project.

Presenting the books to the various schools, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Henry Nii Dottey, said UBA is committed to rekindle the dwindling reading culture amongst African youths.

“Our children no longer read; their passion for reading informative and educative books is fast eroding and this is part of the ills we want to correct in the continent’s educational sector”, he said.

He added: “Having identified the need to curb the trend across the continent, the UBA Foundation came up with Read Africa to encourage leisure reading in junior and senior secondary schools students across Africa”.

Mr. Dottey also used the opportunity to call upon the schools to actively participate in this year’s National Essay Competition.

Hon. Ernest Patrick Kodjo Mallet, District Chief Executive of South Dayi, expressed his gratitude to UBA for the kind gesture demonstrated towards the schools.

“The legacy for children is education and there should not be any shortcut to it”, he said.

He assured UBA that the schools will put the books to good use and also start preparing their students towards this year’s National Essay Competition. (NEC)

A student of Tongor Sec Tech thanked UBA for the books and pledged they will put it to good use.
