Children At Osu Children’s Home Engage With Pepsodent’s #BrushWithMe Campaign

In commemoration of World Oral Health Day, Unilever Ghana under the auspices of its Pepsodent brand has educated children at the Osu Children’s home on the importance of brushing day and night.

This year, Unilever’s Pepsodent brand’s campaign theme for the World Oral Health Day was #BrushWithMe, a campaign set to remind parents of their joyful responsibility in taking care of the oral health of their families by brushing better and together. Items were donated to the Osu Children’s Home to mark the day.

Among the items were boxes of Pepsodent and Pepsodent toothbrushes, school bags, water bottles, pencil cases, hand sanitizers, amongst others were donated to the home and to the kids as well. The kids also participated in an oral health screening by dentists and #BrushWithMe calendars were given to the kids to help them effectively brush day and night to help them keep a routine habit of brushing.

Research conducted globally by Pepsodent has found that children are 7 times more likely to skip brushing if their parents do not brush twice a day.

The Category Manager, Joel Boateng was quoted saying, “We decided to donate to Osu Children’s Home because the campaign is not targeted at only those with biological parents but every child with an adult figure in their lives. We know children here are the most vulnerable and we do not want to leave them out”. The Osu Children’s home was selected because in maintaining a good oral health care every child with parents or without parents must all become part of the campaign.

The items and the oral health screening were met with so much appreciation from a social worker, Janet Ahiaga, at the Osu Children’s home, who expressed profound gratitude to Unilever for their benevolence in selecting the home to mark this auspicious day. According to her, “We’re grateful. Donations like the toothpaste take some burden off the home and it will help kids practice more personal hygiene”.

Pepsodent #BrushWithMe campaign urges all parents and guardians to re-focus their attention on practicing good oral health care at home and set the example for the children by brushing better together.
