LET’S UP OUR GAME; 39% OF PARENTS ALLOW THEIR CHILDREN TO SKIP NIGHT BRUSHING

To live healthily, children and adults must all form the habit of brushing twice a day, especially at night. Sadly, nearly 39% of Ghanaian parents (4 in 10 parents), have let their child go to bed without brushing their teeth at night.

Interestingly, 6 out of 10 children felt pain in their mouth last year. This is according to a global study commissioned by Ghana’s leading oral care brand, Pepsodent, released to mark World Oral Health Day on March 20.

According to this research, a failure to brush at bedtime has proven to cause health and social issues for children, for both the short and long term.

To help curtail the situation, Pepsodent, as part of activities to mark this year’s World Oral Health Day has launched the Brush, Story, Sleep Campaign which is an initiative that promotes merging bedtime brushing and story time in order to help parents and children all around the world to establish a happy and healthy bedtime routine.

The campaign will be motivating parents across the country to make night-time brushing fun to facilitate easier adoption of the habit for children.

Oral hygiene habits are a typical example of a ‘learned behaviour’. It is therefore advisable that parents set a good example for their children in order to protect their smiles for the future, by ensuring they brush day and night with their families.
