Speaking to Cypress Ghana, CEO for the scheme Mimi
Andani said the award will bridge the gap between the small and large
scale entrepreneurs and establishments.
She said “we don’t just
focus on established entrepreneurs, we are also looking at unsung
entrepreneurs and that’s why we gave an opportunity for the pre
nomination. Anyone can nominate an entrepreneur which will give an
opportunity to unsung companies and unsung entrepreneurs.”
She
acknowledged that there are entrepreneurs who are doing great across the
continent and putting Ghana on the map. “But because they don’t even
care about PR, they don’t want any popularity, people don’t know them.
So that’s the opportunity for people to nominate such people, she added”
She
added “so gold coast excellence is to build the gap between the
established and unsung ones who are also doing great. So basically
anybody can go there and nominate, then we do the research. And then
give to the board to decide. Sometimes we even go to FDA because we need
to look at the product quality and your level of hygiene before you are
considered.”
Nominations will be open from 10th November, 2019
to 10th January, 2020, nominations for the Gold Coast Excellence Awards
will be open to enable the general public file their nominations online
in a simple less-than-ten minute process. A nomination can be filed on
behalf of a company or individual.

All
firms including those founded in 2019 may take part in the competition.
A large part of the firm’s achievement must have taken place during the
year under review, however, it is not mandatory for the whole
achievement to have occurred strictly within this period. For already
existing firms, a notable change must have been implemented within the
year under review.
The second edition of the GCEA promises to be
even better and exciting because the scheme has expanded its categories
to include more industries/sectors in Ghana. The main event will also
begin with a Red Carpet Awards ceremony followed by cocktail dinner for
all attendees.
