Call For Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2020 Entries Officially Closed

Charterhouse, organizer of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, wishes to announce to artistes, artiste managements, record labels, producers, instrumentalists, music writers, music industry stakeholders and the general public, that submission of entries for the 21st Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, for works done in 2019, as of 11:59pm on 31st January, 2020, is officially closed. A total of 632 entries from both online and office drop-off submissions were received, making submissions from this year’s edition, 32 entries higher than the previous year. Top charting songs from artistes and labels, covering all music genres represented on the scheme, have been received. The next few weeks will be dedicated to the evaluation of entries by the VGMA Board, as per the scheme’s categories and definitions. While this period is likely to encourage predictions and guesses, it is only at the Nominees Announcement Party, scheduled for February 28th, that we will know who really gets nominated for what. ...

Africa Magic will announce nominees in all 28 categories in the 7th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) on Thursday, 6 February 2020. GBC Executives Pays Courtesy Call On Media General

On Wednesday 29th January 2020, a delegation from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), paid a courtesy call on Media General, one of Ghana’s leading media companies. The GBC team included the Director General, Prof. Amin Alhassan, John O. Korasare, Director of Human Resource, Rev. Ebenezer Botwi, Acting Director of Finance and Kwame Waja, Director of Legal Services. ‘BEYOND THE RETURN’: AFRO-NATION FESTIVAL TO STAY IN GHANA FOR FIVE YEARS

The Ghana Tourism Authority, on behalf of the Government of Ghana, and Event Horizon, Organisers of the Afro-Nation Festival, on Monday, 20th January, 2020, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Ghana to play host to “the biggest urban music beach festival in the world” for the next five years. The MoU, which was signed by Mr. Akwasi, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), and Obi Asika, CEO of Event Horizon, was witnessed by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in London, on the sidelines of the Uk-Africa Investment Summit. The signing of the MoU is part of a number of plans Ghana is putting in place, as it kick-starts the “Beyond the Return” project. ‘Beyond the Return’ aims to engage Africans in the Diaspora and all persons of African descent more positively in areas such as trade and investment co-operation, and skills and knowledge development.

Ghanaian And Nigerian Team Take Part In Ethiopia’s Timket Festival

A TEAM of Ghanaian and Nigerian tour operators, media personnel and tourists took part in the 2020 edition of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church’s epiphany celebrations in the country’s capital of Addis Ababa last Monday. ANITA AKUFFO JOINS MEDIA GENERAL

Yes, Ghana’s leading Media Company, Media General, is at it again and there seems to be no end in sight to this appointments. GFA President Commits To Reforming And Upgrading Existing Beach Soccer Structures

The Chairman of the Ghana FA Beach Soccer Committee has reaffirmed his support for the GFA led by President Kurt Okraku  following consultations with key Beach Soccer stakeholders in Accra. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah made the pronouncement after beach soccer club owners, officials and other stakeholders cried foul at the composition of a Management Committee they felt did not fully represent them. However, after engaging the GFA President and  other top officials, Ampofo Ankrah appealed to the beach soccer fraternity to remain calm. "I wish to revert to same medium to acknowledge and applaud the efforts of the GFA President in addressing the concerns  raised by inviting me for a "clear the air" talks. Along with the Gen Secretary and Vice Gen Secretary (Prosper Harrison Addo & Alex Asante), assurances have been given per the new roles appointed to members of the committees.

Rapper Novo Set To Release ‘Kose ne Champagne’ E.P

One of Ghana’s budding artistes, Novo, is set to come out with his new EP christened, ‘Kose Ne Champagne‘, on 23rd January. In the artistes own words “for all music lovers out there, the time is almost near to update your playlist.” All of the five tracks contained in the EP were produced by tema-based Twobars and mixed and mastered by Seshi. 2019 has been a great year for me full of new experiences and lessons. I remember in the month of August I had the chance to work with muse Africa as a TV Presenter. I had to host the show Muse Chic (a show dedicated to girls) Muse Chic opened the door to understanding how important it is to believe in ones self as a young woman. The show provides from music to fashion tips down to celebrating women in general. I say it opened the door because I was schooling ( Accra technical university)at the same time working at MuseAfrica it’s wasn’t easy for me but I was willingly to take up the challenge . This is my story and reason why I say let’s celebrate our little wins. There were days I have to film my show and I had class at the same time. The trick here was I always make sure I prepare all my script for TV and also prepare well for class ahead.

TV3 IS NUMBER ONE STATION IN GHANA – GEOPOLL RANKING

Leading Ghanaian free-to-air television platform, TV3, has emerged as the number one television station in Ghana in the 2019 GeoPoll ranking.  According to the ranking, TV3 dominated the Ghanaian television industry from January to December 2019 in both urban and rural demographic cohorts within the survey age of 15 years to 45+ years, averaging 12.58% of the total 17 million estimated TV population corresponding to 2,144,588 impressions. UTV overtook Adom TV for the second spot at the end of 2019 recording an average share of 11.25%. This average audience share year-to-date (YTD) is the true measure of the performance of a particular channel, other than the individual weekly shares.  At the end of December 2019, TV3 topped the monthly performance recording an average share of 14.34% equivalent to 2,444,626 impressions. The Chief Executive Officer of Flexx Model Iconz and Greater Accra head of Models for the Models Union of Ghana (MODUGA), Richard Stix -Mensah, is encouraging stakeholders of the modeling industry to put the wellbeing of Models at heart. According to Stix-Mensah, who currently won the Best Male Model Trainer of the year at the just ended West Africa Face of Photo Arena Awards, most of the models are not properly taken care of in terms of payment after they are hired by stylists and other stakeholders.
